Through Wilderness
The pieces for Through Wilderness were created to depict the struggle of being in a place of mental, physical, or spiritual “wilderness”. The wilderness is a metaphor often used in the old and new testaments of biblical text as a place of trial, confusion or testing, but also as a place of Gods renewal and rest offered in such unexpected places and moments. Each piece uses symbols referring to the individual triumphs and trials in the life of Jesus as a source of guidance and hope, in relation to symbols created from personal experience. Combining theological as well as personal symbols create a narrative interwoven with the complications of the individual search for physical and spiritual direction as well as meaning, and comfort in seemingly dark and pathless situations.
